New Innovatum/ S4 setup wins Survey & Positioning Support Gig

Within days of Innovatum taking a majority stake in Suffolk Survey & Subsea Services, the combined group company were awarded a Survey & Positioning support contract with an historic S4 client for 2.5 – 3 months. Mobilisation occurred 2 weeks later with the project currently ongoing.

The project scope is within the approach channel to a Scottish port for over 200 observed pUXO targets for diver investigation prior to the navigational channel being dredged post ALARP certification. Innovatum/ S4 are providing, via the client chartered integrated air dive, 4-point mooring CTV, a full survey & positioning spread with Senior Surveyor working each 12hr shift to cover the 24hr support requirement in 10-15m WD LAT.

The support spread includes; Applied Acoustics Nexus 2 USBL with micro beacons fitted to the diver with clear line of sight (no masking) to the transceiver (over the side pole mounted), Hemisphere VS330 DGPS Compass (with Atlas H10 differential signals), Galaxy South wireless RTK DGPS (via high gain external 5G wifi antenna), Kongsberg Seatex 5 MRU, Valeport Rapid Pro SVT, Valeport 106 current meter, all via a fully integrated/ networked, space saving PC suite and screens/ mass storage controlled via the QPS QINSy survey & navigation software suite (with appropriate sparing/ redundancy).

The surveyors are supporting the client EOD onboard with full navigational data for vessel self-setting 4-point mooring/ anchor pattern and EOD diver(s) subsea positioning for MTL investigation, and wet storing, as required, to generate the TIR (Target Investigation Reports) for EOD ALARP assessment and certification.

The project is due to complete approximately mid to end April 2025.
