Angus graduated with an HND in Hydrography in 1988 and started work offshore as a survey positioning specialist for Geco A/S within the marine geophysical exploration sector. After later moving to Petroleum Geo Services, shortly after its conception, the bulk of his time was spent working offshore as Chief Navigator on multi vessel, 3D, 4D, HD3D and undershooting operations in complex SIMOPs scenarios, followed by work on the innovative Ramform seismic vessels towing and positioning up to 14, 6000m seismic streamers, while simultaneously fulfilling the role of assistant Party Manager.
During this time with Petroleum Geo Services, Angus, as a senior navigation specialist within the organisation, also worked on in-house company projects to update company Quality Assurance and Quality Control material to produce and develop internal technical training course material, the core of which is still in use today.
From 2007, Angus worked as an offshore Party Manager involved with multiple towed streamer spreads and latterly with Ocean Bottom Node projects, again in complex SIMOPs situations around existing surface and subsurface infrastructure. This required managing offshore operations in highly pressurised situations on high value, safety focussed contracts for oil Super Majors in remote locations worldwide. During this time, Angus gained invaluable QHSE management experience and participated in a number of incident investigations and root cause analyses receiving post project review recognition from more then one super major client for his effective approach.
Having gained extensive working experience offshore in operations and QHSE management as well as experience of incident management, investigation and implementation of remedial measures, Angus formalised this experience with attainment of NEBOSH General, Environmental and Fire Safety certification and is a technical member of IOSH.
Away from work, Angus is a family man with an interest in classic cars and cycling.
